Work has begun on repairs and ADA accessibility improvements at ValleyRide bus stops, and adding new stops to accommodate upcoming service changes. The improvements include the installation of concrete pads, adjacent pedestrian ramps and bus stop sign work. The improvement project involves 25 existing and planned new stops in Boise, Meridian and Eagle.

The first set of bus stop improvements are at the eight locations listed below. Work on these improvements started Monday, July 27, and should be completed during the week of Aug. 10-14.

  • Gary & Bunch (southeast corner) – Construct a wider concrete pad to fit a bus bench and shelter.  This is a frequently used stop along Route 9 with connections to Route 12.
  • Warm Springs & Eckert (southwest corner) – Construct a concrete pad to connect the bus stop to the sidewalk.  This enhancement is being done in coordination with the Harris Ranch Neighborhood Association and will include a new shelter and bench.
  • Vista & Overland (northwest corner) – Replace the existing concrete pad which was damaged because of a car accident.  Concrete repairs will allow for the replacement of a bench and shelter at this location.
  • Nez Perce & Latah (northeast corner) – Construct a wider concrete pad to fit a bench and shelter.  These improvements are being done in coordination with neighborhood investments.
  • River & Ash (northwest corner) – Construct a concrete pad to connect the bus stop to the sidewalk to make this stop ADA compliant.  These changes are in coordination with route changes.  This stop will be served by routes 4 and 5.
  • River & 13th (southwest corner) – Construct a concrete pad to connect the bus stop to the sidewalk to make this stop ADA compliant.  The pad will also be large enough for a future shelter and bench as warranted.  These changes are in coordination with route changes.  This stop will be served by routes 4 and 5.
  • River & 13th (northeast corner) - Construct a wider concrete pad to fit a bus bench and shelter.  These changes are in coordination with route changes and the removal of the stop on 13th and Grand.  This stop will be served by routes 4 and 5.
  • Emerald & Raymond (southeast corner) - Construct a wider concrete pad to fit a bus bench and shelter.  These changes are in coordination with previous changes to Route 5.

We will post updated information on bus stops included in this project closer to the startup construction dates. The total cost of the project, expected to be completed in early October, is $367,451.
