The 24th annual Stuff the Bus toy drive, held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, was a huge success. Thank you to all who donated toys, cash and gift cards during the event.
A total of 6,342 toys were donated, along with $600 in gift cards and cash.
The goal of Stuff the Bus is to fill Valley Regional Transit (VRT) buses with new, unwrapped toys or gift cards for children of all ages. The Salvation Army will distribute the items to families in need throughout the community in time for Christmas.
Valley Regional Transit provided the buses and drivers, and VRT staff assisted dozens of volunteers from the Salvation Army at the collection sites. At the end of the event, the toys were bagged up and transported to Salvation Army distribution centers in Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell.
The VRT buses were parked near the main entrances of the seven Fred Meyer stores in the Treasure Valley.
In the 24 years Valley Regional Transit has participated in Stuff the Bus, more than 165,000 toys have been donated.
