Common Questions

  • What is Beyond Access?

Beyond Access is a new service from VRT that provides trips for those that qualify in Ada and Canyon counties Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Beyond Access will replace transportation services currently provided by SHIP, Harvest Transit, Star Senior Center, Metro Community Services, and VRT’s Eagle Senior Transportation Service. The last day to ride for these services is Friday, December 22, 2023. There will be no services available from Monday, December 25 to Friday, December 29, 2023. Riders can begin booking Beyond Access trips on Tuesday, December 26.

  • What is happening to my old service?

Beyond Access unifies smaller services into one convenient way to book rides through the Treasure Valley. You can take the trip you’ve taken in the past, now provided by VRT, and have access to a bigger service area!

  • Where will Beyond Access take me?

Beyond Access is a curb-to-curb service available in and between Ada and Canyon counties. VRT will check if your trip falls within the service area and provide trip details during the booking process.

  • What will it cost to ride?

Beyond Access is a no-cost service.

  • How to I qualify for Beyond Access?

To qualify, please provide proof of age (60+) and/or a Medicare card to VRT’s Customer Service. Existing riders in VRT’s specialized transportation or Access programs automatically qualify.

  • How long will I wait for my ride?

The drop-off window is an estimate based on your desired travel time. Because this is a ride-sharing service, actual drop-off time may vary. Please understand that while we make every effort to arrive at your desired travel time, you may have a slight wait due to demand. If you must arrive at your destination at a specified time, we recommend planning your trip to arrive early.
