STOP CLOSURES: State Street construction

Due to construction on State Street, bus stops at State & Pierce Park (AB535 and AB536) will be closed effective Monday, January 20th.

Due to limited space, no temporary stops will be placed. Riders should navigate to nearby stops at State & Ellens Ferry (AB540 and AB541) using available sidewalks or a VRT Lyft Pass.

Riders can track the bus in real-time on the Route 9 page or with ETA SPOT.

Note: Ongoing lane closures will be in place on an as-needed basis throughout the duration of the project, which is expected to last until later this year. To reduce frequent changes and provide more reliable travel, VRT will keep the stops at Pierce Park closed throughout construction—even if it appears that there is no present construction activity.

To help riders get to nearby bus stops, a temporary Lyft Pass is available for free rides to the bus stops at State Street & Ellens Ferry while Route 9 is in operation (Monday-Friday from 5:15 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.).

How to use: 

1. Get the app: Download the Lyft app and set up an account if you don’t have one already.
2. Load the code: Select “Payment” from the menu and click on “Enter Lyft Pass.” Enter code: 9STATE (note: this code is for a free pass to the stops at Ellens Ferry only – riders can use their VRT Lyft Pass to navigate to other bus stops within the service area)
3. Schedule your trip: Schedule your trip to bus stop AB540 or AB541.
4. Take a ride: Enjoy a free ride (up to $6) to Route 9, and thank you for your patience!
